Itinerary

Day 1: Border-Stung Treng (B/L/-)
Pick up at border transfer to Ou Svay, kayak through the flooded forests a Ramsar Wetlands which supports a large variety of birds along the river. Enjoy the remoteness of the area feeling completely at one with nature. Once you began kayaking, the scenery is immediately dramatic and shows many large trees sticking out of the water with their roots grown into the direction of the Mekong currents. The small islands appear everywhere around. In the wet season the water levels are higher and you will not see many islands. After a while, you will arrive in a little community called Veun Sien. This community is incredibly poor and only accessible by boat. Your visit will certainly leave an impact here. Explore the village by foot for a while to relax. Stop near the village of Veun Sien on one of the many sandy beaches for a lunch box before see bone of Dolphin than continuing kayak trip until Koh Ky. Transfer by boat cruise down the Mekong to Stung Treng, check in Hotel and rest for a while. Free time for your own, walking tours around this small city is worth to do.

Day 2: Stung Treng – Koh Phdau island (B/L/D)
We depart Stung Treng by mountain bike along a scenic river route, passing through quiet villages and watching local river life and fishing. After 35 km of cycling, we will board kayaks for a paddle on the Mekong in an area of numerous sandy islands and rare Mekong River Dolphins. We end the kayaking at a deep dolphin pool where we will have a picnic lunch. After lunch, transfer by boat to Koh Phdau stay over night home stay with local people on the island.

Day 3: Koh Phdau – Kratie (B/L/-)
Today we will have an early start and ride along the bank of the river to the end of the island. We past many small village and rice field. 5km pass we will take a ferry that will take us to our car waiting at Sambo.
Sambo was the site of a thriving pre Angkorian city during the time of Sambor Prei Kuk and the Chenla empire. Not a stone remains in the modern town of Sambor, which is locally famous for having the largest Wat in Cambodia, complete with 108 columns. Known locally as Wat Moi Roi ( Wat Sorsor Moi Roi, 100 columns Temple ). We continue our trip along the Mekong in to a pretty province spanning the Mekong, much of Kra Tie’s population makes it living from the mother river’s waters. On the way we visit Phnom Sombok and Watch as villagers cook this very popular travel snack in its bamboo packaging (sticky rice, coconut, milk, salt, soybeans ). Local people they make Krolan.

Day 4 : Kra Tie – Koh Trong island (B/L/-)
At the morning we take across the Mekong from Kra Tie is the island of Koh Trong, an almighty sandbar in the middle of the river. We will have chance to do an activity developed by the Mekong Discovery Trail to promote sustainable tourism in the area. Take part in a tree planting activity helping to rejuvenate the forest on the island. After we take a ride around the island and then enjoy lunch organize by home stay with the local food. Cross back to city of Kra Tie free to walk around the town on your own at afternoon.

Day 5 : Kra Tie – Kampongcham (B/L/-)
Follow the riverbank south ( south side ). you will pass through the quant French colonial town of Chhlong which. at one time, was buzzing centre for the rubber trade. Some of the riverside buildings are fine example of decaying colonial architecture although one has recently been rescued and restored to make a fine quest house it is worth pedaling around the market area to see what you can find. Continue west until you stumble across a local ferry to the north bank. Take this and then cycle the sandy roads through villages and visit temples- Wat Hanchey is a hilltop pagoda that was an importand centre of worship during the Chenla period, and today offers some of the best Mekong views in Cambodia, and some of which are worth a stop to visit – on to Kampongcham where the first, Japanese funded, Cambodian bridge across the Mekong now proudly stands.

Day 6 : Kampongcham – Phnom Penh (B/L/-)

Option 1 :
After breakfast Transfer to locals in the small Cambodia town of Skuon  ( otherwise known affectionately as Spiderville ) . continue by car to the Mekong River north Phnom Penh and board a ferry boat to cross to the Silk island. Enjoy a picnic lunch and swim at sandy beach on the tip of the northern-most island and make numerous excursions on the is lands including visits to an island pagoda, local silk weaving communities, farms, villages and schools as we cycle across two islands. From the quiet east bank of the Mekong, we will continue cycling along a quiet route along the Mekong before arriving directly across the river from Phnom Penh. Here we will cross by ferry through the “Four River ” where the Mekong and Tole Sap cross, and then cycling to your hotel in Phnom Penh.

Dress standard: Dress respectfully for visiting in the local community. Trousers/skirt or knee length shorts and shirt/t-shirt that covers your shoulders are appropriate. Comfortable shoes or sandals suitable for walking are also recommended.
